Key 42 represents the path that leads from expectation to celebration, through the process of detachment.

Here, it is the archetype of the Nomad that embodies this key. The Nomad moves from place to place, savoring each moment of the journey instead of focusing solely on the final destination. The Nomad knows that every journey has a beginning and an end — and that after one journey ends, another begins. Deeply attuned to the great cycles of life and death, the Nomad doesn't try to hold on to what no longer has a place. Instead, they allow themselves to be carried by the joy of discovery, letting go of expectations. Their path is full of twists, turns, and surprises — and they know how to make the most of it.

The shadow of this key is expectation. It’s natural to be fueled by the hope that something will happen, to wish for a certain outcome or dream to come true. We all have aspirations we long to fulfill. However, expectation creates inner tension — a sense of incompleteness. We live in the hope that something will come to “complete” our experience. And so, disappointment becomes almost inevitable, because we’re not truly living in the moment. It’s as if we’re constantly waiting for real life to begin. We postpone our happiness until we’ve achieved something, taken that course, reached that goal...

We’ve all been there in one way or another — creating mental projections, hoping for a specific result, only to realize that, deep down, we still feel the same. What a letdown! And sometimes, disappointment can even dim our inner flame. It can make us question our path — and even life itself. Can we really fulfill our deepest dreams?

In the tapestry, it is the Mussel that represents the shadow of this key.

The Mussel lives anchored to rocks or other solid surfaces to which it can cling. It’s almost the opposite of the Nomad. While the Nomad travels and shifts with the unfolding story of their life, the Mussel remains stuck to the same rock. It’s as if it has given up its dreams of adventure. Why risk being disappointed?

It is entirely dependent on the tides, the current, and the quality of the water. It must wait for food to arrive, filtering it and keeping only what is essential. In this, we begin to see the emergence of detachment. The Mussel doesn’t force anything; it lets the water, the plankton, and the tides flow through. It becomes a silent witness to the cycles of life. It opens and closes with them, accepting that its path unfolds in this precise place — and it learns to make the most of the present moment.

To free ourselves from expectations, we must learn to let go.Here, I want to clarify the kind of detachment I’m referring to. Some people mistakenly believe that detachment means closing off the heart, no longer investing fully, or becoming cold. But in truth, real detachment allows for exactly the opposite.

When we release our expectations and preconceived ideas, we become capable of being fully present in the moment. We can truly enjoy the time we share with loved ones, without being disappointed by unmet expectations we might have placed on the relationship. Detachment brings a lightness of being. It's like the Nomad, who fully enjoys an evening with friends he may never see again — unless fate brings them together once more.

Detachment always takes place in the mind. It’s our ideas, beliefs, and assumptions that we must release. And when we do, all that remains is the spaciousness of the present moment — filled with love for life and joy for simply being.

In the tapestry, this powerful gift is symbolized by the Llama. This beautiful mountain animal walks slowly and patiently. It carries its burdens without drama. One step at a time is its motto. It knows the highs and lows of steep and rugged paths. It moves forward, leaving the past behind. And its elevated position — high in the mountains, like those of Peru — allows it to see the world from a place of detachment. It sees the full journey, yet its awareness stays grounded in the present moment. It doesn't rush toward its destination. It walks with trust in the path. And above all, it knows that the end of one journey marks the beginning of another. It accepts things as they are — and that’s why it has learned to love life.

The Siddhi (divine essence) of this Key is Celebration, represented by the Parrot with its flamboyant colors. There’s no better symbol for this state of consciousness than this radiant bird. With its dazzling feathers and loud voice, the Parrot sings life into being, dances through the air, and mimics the diversity of the living world — just for the fun of it.

It reminds us that every moment is a celebration — not just the beginnings and the endings.Life is a cosmic comedy in which we are invited to take part, bringing our own unique colors to the stage. The Parrot is a joyful reminder that everything is cyclical, and that death is not the end, but rather the beginning of a new story. It has understood the cosmic joke of being human — and it laughs heartily in response.

With love,
